Under the law with its ten fold lash,
Learning, alas, how true,
That the more I tried, the sooner I died,
While the law cried, You! You!! You!!!
Hopelessly still did the battle rage,
"O wretched man" my cry,
And deliverance I sought by some penance brought,
While my soul cried, cried! cried!! cried!!!
Then came a day when my struggling ceased,
And trembling in every limb,
At the foot of the Tree where One died for me,
I sobbed out, Him! Him!! Him!!!

Satan's job is to take us to Sinai, the mountain of effort. When convicted of sin, he knows we will try to make things right by doing this or that, promising this or that, and even denying this or that.
Holy Spirit's job is to take us to the Cross where each exposed sin is first admitted, then put to rest. God is just! And, He HAS justified all sinners of all their sins.
Trusting we live free of guilt and shame. Trying we die.
"The one who sows into his own flesh, from the flesh will reap corruption. But the one who sows into the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap Life Everlasting." (Gal 6:8 DLT)
Those who cling to things, in the end, when all things go the way of decay, decay with them. Those who cling to the Eternal One live enjoying that One forever. Here is a simple test. What thing could I take from you that would undo you? Car, home, clothes, time, money, strength, or fame?
