Soul as the Union of
Body and Spirit
Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Gen 2:7)
The soul is the living expression of an earthen vessel united with the Breath of Life (spirit). We are in this mix, as human beings, expressed as body-spirit. This is what we are meant to be. But what we miss is this thing we call spirit, the image of the Unseen One is now seen through His Union with our spirit and expressed through this flesh. Nothing is wrong with this spirit. But to what the flesh adheres there is where it finds its identity (union).
"But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." ( 1Co 6:17 KJV)
If we find our 'self identity' in this world system, flesh stuff, mind stuff, prestige, power, or any other thing which is able to distract us, we are setting ourselves up for an eternal loss. This life, as we know it, is coming to an end. Once this flesh is gone, those joined to the things of earth have, and for eternity, NO-thing.
But those who experience now the Eternal One, Jesus the Christ, will share Him for eternity.
Our whole duty is to be humbled at the finished work of Jesus at the Cross. The goal is always, in all places, and at all times, to See Jesus. Nothing more. Nothing less.
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. (Mat 6:24 NAS)
