Ἐν (EN) - in, on, at, among, by. (takes dative)
ἀρχῇ (ar-KHÍ) - beginning, head, origin; also rule, authority, domain. Dative singular of ἀρχή.
ἦν (ÍN) - he/she/it was. Third person singular imperfect active indicative of εἰμί (to be).
ὁ (HO) - the. Masculine nominative singular definite article.
λόγος (LÓ-yos) - word, speech, message, reason. In John's prologue, refers to the divine Word (Christ).
καί (KÉ) - and, also, even, indeed.

θεός (the-ÓS) - God, deity, god.
ἦν (ÍN) - he/she/it was.
ὁ (HO) - the. Masculine nominative singular definite article.
λόγος (LÓ-yos) - word, speech, message, reason.
Ὃ ἦν ἀπʼ ἀρχῆς, ὃ ἀκηκόαμεν, ὃ ἑωράκαμεν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν,
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, 
ὃ ἐθεασάμεθα καὶ αἱ χεῖρες ἡμῶν ἐψηλάφησαν,
which we have looked at, and our hands have touched—this we proclaim
περὶ τοῦ λόγου τῆς ζωῆς--
concerning the Word of life.
