GLORY
"The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge." (Psalm 19:1–2 NASB95)
I have read many faith based beliefs about creation. Some, when written, are less than a page long. I have also watched the reactions of people when introduced to one or another of these beliefs. I remember listening reverently to a priest of one of the youngest faith based religions that has swept the world in about 150 years. As he unfolded his story of evolution, and I might add with great zeal and enthusiasm, I noticed that mixed with the dogma was an intolerance for other creation beliefs. Unfortunately, my conclusion is that people are more often defined by what they do not believe, not by what they believe. It’s as if their disbelief were a pair of bookends that hold up the truth. In short, their truth finds credulity by the strength and beauty of the bookends. When reading the verses from Psalms quoted above notice the absence of bookends. Are there heavens? Yes. These heavens persuade rational onlookers of the distinction and praise due to someone or something. Might as well call it God. The immeasurable space we are faced with might as well move our mind to contemplate that some endity had some hand in all this mindfulness. Might as well call that the GLORY of God. |
An observable event is a multitude of similar repetitive events, like a wavelength our ears can perceive. We can call it the ability to observe light. B
Between the observable events are unseen events. We can call these nights. They declare a mystery. All this is saying something, but what could it be? To whom God would make known what is the riches of the GLORY of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of GLORY: (Colossians 1:27 KJV emphasis mine) In practice this mystery comes down to this, life without bookends to support it.
Only a super-reasoning person worships at the altar of the mind smiling ever so coyly as they see and smell the sacrifice of their heart. Then again, who is that one who would stand at their altar rejoicing over the sacrifice of their mind? Neither of these bookends are needed to support trust. Trust stands on its own. Trust is a choice. This next statement leads to a choice. You are either complete in Christ or completed in Christ through self effort. One is possible, one is impossible. Take your pick! “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Colossians 2:10 KJV) |
