Faith is not a commodity of which you can get so much you finally have enough. Faith is trust in another. Yes, Jesus more than once seemed to chide His disciples with a phrase like 'oh you of little faith' but then again He says all you need is the faith of a grain of mustard seed. It is so tiny yet grows into a tree in which birds make their homes. So then we get to trust Jesus. With what. Well maybe at first a cup of water, then a faucet and then a swimming pool. But it takes the same faith for each. Trusting another to provide what you need when you need it.
Some years ago Linda, I, and the boys lived each moment in utter need of His intervention. He would show up as bags of groceries or a friend upon whom He impressed to share a few dollars which perfectly matched a bill yet to be paid. (See our books titled Naked Faith Part 1 and 2.) Through that experience, we learned that from our perspective He was always late, but from the perspective of real need He was right on time. The awesome gift He has for us was to learn He is all we need and can faith Him (trust Him). |
