Of all places to find God, and that in the face of Jesus Christ.

A short time after Jesus had taken hold of me as all I would ever need, I was praying with Linda in the otherwise empty sanctuary of the church where we were then members. In a split second, I had this open-eyed vision.

There was Jesus upon His cross. I strained to see His face. It was marred beyond recognition. I kept looking more closely and more closely until we were eye to eye. Then I saw Him, His core, His purpose, His end.

I uncontrollably cried out with a loud voice, "My God! My God! Why have You forsaken me?" For in that instant, I saw His face was my face, I was being crucified. I was going to die. I was a goner! Forever!

My father and brother-in-law were in the basement of the church and came running up to see what was wrong. Linda, sitting next to me, jumped out of her skin, but I in that moment I knew I was dead and the life I am living is not mine but His.
